Caren McBain
Caren was born in Welkom in the middle of South Africa. Her parents moved around a fair bit when she was young, so she was brought up in Welkom, Potchestroom, Cape town, Bloemfontain and Durban.
She moved to the UK in 1997 and met Dave a couple of years later. They were introduced by a mutual friend that Dave had met working in South Africa.
Caren studied at hotel school and was Conferencing manager at some of South Africa's best hotels.
In the UK she worked for a charity - Cruse bereavement care - as IT officer until Xavi was born. She then set up her own business
selling South African baked goods until she moved to Lochinver to run Davar.
Caren is a 2nd Dan black belt at Karate and runs the Assynt Karate club. She loves painting and decorating as well as gardening.
